Leadership Is A Choice

Are leaders really born or is it a choice to be a leader?

There are quite a few people out there who burry their dreams, just because they have the believe that being a leader is something that is not available for them.

First of all I think its important to know, if you want to be a leader, as leading people takes heaps of responsibility. If you have not mastered yourself you should not try to lead as you will never be perceived as genuine.

You may heard the saying: Failing organisations are usually over-managed and under-led.
by Warren G. Bennis

True leaders though are - a seldom breed.

If you have considered yourself feeling confident to lead people, you have just started a long journey. A journey that will be very fulfilling and challenging...

If a company fails, whose the person people are pointing their fingers at?
Sure, it is the leader of the company...

So be aware of stepping into big footsteps. Is that a problem?

Of course not, when going the mile of being a great leader, you have just begun to explore yourself.

I have read an interesting quote of a great mentor of mine: He sais that the most dangerous leadership myth is that leaders are born - that there is a genetic factor to leadership. This myth asserts that people simply either have certain charismatic qualities or not and that's nonsense.

Yes, I believe that too. It's always a choice. If you don't challenge what scares you, if the inevitable force drags you to the ground, be prepared to stand up and attack your fears. One of my favourite actors is Will Smith. When he was young he developed the great attitude of always when he was afraid of occurring challenges to immediately start attacking them. So to speak, he crushed his fears...

And it's true. Where you ever afraif of something? Sure you where... so what did you do? Did you try to hide away... put the TV on, make a nap, meet some friends, go into the cinema, listen music, watch youtube videos, land on this blog, just because you did not want to challenge your fears?

And at a certain point there came a moment, where you had to face your fear anyway?

Think about school, if you actually have to learn for an upcoming exam, how many times have you tried to hide from your responsibilities and wait and wait and wait...

Leadership means having a clear picture of what you want, facing your fears and working your butt off. So... I invite you to think about what you want and taking the path of true fulfillment...

BE A LEADER otherwise others will lead you!
